SLATE Hair Academy: A Leading Hairdressing School in London’s Soho.
SLATE is dedicated to delivering the highest quality advanced short and long-term hairdressing courses.
Founded by Michael Pitsillides and Gregory C in 2016, our team brings decades of experience from the world’s global runways and the pages of Vogue, to the highest levels of advanced cutting and colouring.
We know that many “qualified” stylists leave college with a certificate but without the skills to run a column. They spend months on Health & Safety theory but get very little time with scissors or a tint brush in their hands. We are here to change that. We bridge the gap between Advanced Technical Cutting, Modern Colour, and Editorial Session Styling.
We took the best of our background in high-fashion and technical hair and refined it for the modern salon. We stripped away the bureaucracy to focus entirely on mastering the craft.
Our Education Philosophy
We teach you how to be a Master of our craft. Our courses are intense, practical, and designed for people who are serious about their career. With a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, you get the hands-on mentorship that is impossible to find in large colleges & academies.

Gregory joined SASSOON in 1982 and trained their staff to be stylists at the Sloane Street salon, and academy.
Gregory opened his first salon in 1987 in London's Covent Garden.
It was an immediate success.
His clients included leading names from the world of business, entertainment, music & design.
Gregory is the co founder of SLATE
Michael’s career began on the fashion runways of London, New York, Paris, and Milan, as well as in photoshoots for magazines such as Vogue.
His passion for hairstyling & cutting evolved into a commitment to education.
In 2016, Michael teamed up with Gregory to launch SLATE. With their background in precision cutting and expertise in fashion, they have seamlessly blended London’s iconic fashion scene with its prestigious cutting heritage, bringing the past and future together through SLATE.
Michael is a co-founder of SLATE
Luca is an accomplished hairdresser from Naples. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity, earning recognition in prestigious competitions.
Luca was the proud winner of the HairClubLive competition for three consecutive years (2016, 2017, 2018) and took home the top honor at the NHF competition in 2018, being named in a category Britain best Hairdresser, further cementing his status as one of the industry's most talented professionals.
His passion is to share his expertise of the craft with the next generation.
