If you’ve recently qualified or are returning to hairdressing and want to feel confident on the salon floor, the SLATE 16-Week Haircutting Diploma is your fast track to becoming salon ready.

This intensive programme 1 day per week from 10am to 4pm and is designed for hairdressers who want to master the foundations and refine their cutting, styling and consultation skills, boost confidence, and gain hands-on experience in a real salon environment.

With our 6:1 student–teacher ratio and constant personal mentoring, you’ll gain the precision, pace and professionalism that clients expect in top London salons.

Course Breakdown

Stage 1: Salon Styling & Confidence

Salon styling, consultations, sectioning, comb and clip control, body position, and client experience.

Stage 2: Women’s Classic Cutting

Master one lengths, graduation, long and medium layers, and trend-led shapes such as shags and mullets.

Stage 3: Men’s Cutting

Refine men’s shapes — short layers, scissor-over-comb, and modern barbering-inspired finishes.

Stage 4: Live Model Practice

Transition to working with real clients. Students can bring their own models (SLATE will assist with sourcing).
